Ashley Burns SC is a senior counsel in private practice and is a member of Temple Chambers. He has been practising law in the field of commercial dispute resolution for over 40 years. Ashley Burns SC first qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1973 and in Hong Kong in 1977. He was a partner of Johnson Stokes & Master (now known as Mayer Brown JSM) from 1981 to 1987, the senior and managing partners of Turner Kenneth Brown's Hong Kong office from1987 to 1993 and then the senior and managing partner of the Hong Kong office of Wilde Sapte (now known as Denton Wilde Sapte) from 1993 to1996. He was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 1996 and took silk in 2007.

1. Other than time set aside for hearings, a charge of HK$6,000 per hour charged on the basis of net time expended.
2. Any hearing involving a half day or longer charged at HK$60,000 per day, or pro-rata per half day for actual time spent.
3. As a condition of accepting appointment, a deposit of HK$15,000 will be required on account of fees. This deposit will be credited against actual time spent on the case but is not refundable.
4. Any dates set aside for a hearing and subsequently vacated may be charged at my discretion at 50% of the appropriate rate if vacated less than 3 weeks but more than 1 week in advance of the date set aside, or at the full rate if vacated less than 1 week in advance.
5. The above rates will remain fixed until 31st December 2016, but will thereafter be reviewed annually on 1 January in line with my usual charging rates for other services.
6. Any disbursements to be charged at cost.
7. Security for my fees or deposits on account of my fees is/are to be provided by the parties if so ordered by me.
8. Fees will be invoiced from time to time on an interim basis, and are to be payable 30 days after invoice.
9. Both parties are to be jointly and severally liable for the payment of my fees and expenses.
